The RFU Tag 2 Twickenham competition was developed from the Child Victims of Crime Tag Rugby project in 2007. The RFU and YAZOO are proud to work alongside the only national police children's charity promoting children's safety, health and welfare and encourag ing their social inclusion and community involvement. Sarah Hunter an England women international and T2T ambassador has been supporting the programme, “I have seen the great work the charity Child Victims of Crime do in using Tag to promote children's safety and welfare, the police officers coach rugby in local schools in order to develop links with children and it is great to see the fun that the officers have with the children yet covering important life messages.”
The programme is supported by England Star Mark Cueto, of Sale Sharks. He joined forces with the UK 's leading milkshake, YAZOO , and the Rugby Football Union to bring Tag Rugby to over 1 million school children of all abilities, over the last two years. “I'm really enjoying working with YAZOO ”, said Mark. “I played mini-rugby as a young lad and have some really happy memories from those times. I'm lucky to work at Sale and England with top nutritionists who educate us about the importance of eating and drinking the right thing. The average child doesn't have access to that kind of support or information, so it's great to be part of a scheme that encourages kids to take part in sport and make healthier choices in their lives.” YAZOO is donating balls, tag-belts and other rugby equipment via the RFU to thousands of schools throughout the country.
The Tag 2 Twickenham programme offered over 35,000 children a pathway to play at Twickenham through local and regional festivals and the National Final at Rugby School .
